Cyber Essentials aims to help organisations implement basic levels of protection against cyber attack, demonstrating to their customers that they take cyber security seriously.
The five basic controls within Cyber Essentials were chosen because, when properly implemented, they will help to protect against unskilled internet-based attackers using commodity capabilities – which are freely available on the internet.
We have consultants who are CREST Registered Penetration Testers, Certified Ethical Hackers, EC-Council Certified Security Analysts and also SC Cleared.

Firewall Security
Your firewall set up is crucial in terms of identifying and preventing unwanted traffic from entering your network and systems. The extent of the firewall will depend on individual business requirements.
Secure Configuration
Software and business equipment should be properly configured to ensure they are set up to reduce the risk of cyber attacks. You should never rely on factory settings and keep security in mind.
User Access
User access control should be implemented to ensure privileges are inline with a users role and responsibilities to minimise the risk of breaches. Security and processes should also be examined.
Malware Protection
Measures must be implemented to protect against malware and viruses within your organisation these can include implementing anti-malware measures, sandboxing and white listing.
Patch Management
Organisations should ensure that the software they use is maintained and kept up to date in terms vulnerability updates and security.
Since 1 October 2014, Cyber Essentials became a minimum requirement for bidding for some government contracts

The UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy is to make the UK a safer place to conduct business online. Suppliers bidding for government contracts which involve handling of sensitive and personal information and provision of certain technical products and services must be compliant with the new Cyber Essentials controls.
The Cyber Essentials scheme identifies some fundamental technical security controls that an organisation needs to have in place to help defend against Internet-borne threats.
We have achieved IASME Gold Certification and Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
We are a licensed Cyber Essentials Certification Body and can certify your organisation for Cyber Essentials Basic or Cyber Essentials Plus.

The scheme is available at two levels:
Cyber Essentials - an independently verified self assessment. Organisations assess themselves against five basic security controls and a qualified assessor verifies the information provided.
Cyber Essentials PLUS – a higher level of assurance. A qualified and independent assessor examines the same five controls, testing that they work in practice by simulating basic hacking and phishing attacks.

Self Certification
The basic ‘Cyber Essentials’ award is intended to be achieved through self-certification.
Your business assesses whether you meet the requirements of Cyber Essentials and your senior management makes a declaration of compliance. Once this assessment is independently verified by Develop Capability Ltd we can award you the ‘Cyber Essentials’ badge.
You can send us an e-mail with Purchase Order details. We will then send you a user name and password to log-in to the on-line questionnaire.
This is the highest level of Cyber Essentials and is titled ‘Cyber Essentials Plus’. We are licensed to perform these assessments.
Cyber Essentials Plus involves an assessment of your cyber security using industry standard tools and provides you and your customers with additional confidence.
